Sacred Meat is a Point and Click Horror Adventure game created for the original Gameboy, entered into GBCompo23, where the theme is "you are the monster." Guide Jonah through his trauma as he tries to take care of his aging father and reconcile the difficult past they share.

You can cycle through three interactions with most objects: Look (magnifying glass), Interact (hand), and Speak (text bubble). There is an inventory that you must use to solve puzzles and collect items needed to progress, so make sure to look around.

There are 2 endings and extra bonus scene. A walkthrough will be provided in the credits text file, in case you get stuck, or really want to see the extra scene. The extra scene is meant to be the ending that best correlates to the theme.

Controls:

  • Start/Enter: Brings up the pause menu or checklist.
  • Select/Shift: Cycle through interaction options.
  • A Button/Z key: Accept/continue
  • B Button/X Key: Back or return to previous screen.
  • D-Pad/Arrow Keys: Move cursor

I like the humor attempts and it has a charming quality I can't put my finger on. I however got stuck and couldn't continue

Can you tell me where you got stuck? Perhaps I can help you, or at least identify a bug that I need to fix. Thank you for the kind words as well. :)

Not bad. It has some solid moments but it feels to me like it doesn't build up to any sort of payoff. Still don't regret spending money on it. I'd give it a solid 6 out of 10, which is still a good score despite what THE GAMERS say.

Thank you for the kind words and feedback, and especially thanks for paying for it. 💖

This is a haunting horror game that builds its atmosphere and themes over time by taking advantage of the player's growing familiarity with the household and the contrast between mundane domesticity and the horror elements. Very effective game with a balance of moods and emotions!

Thanks so much for the kind words! I'm really happy you felt that way about the game. 💖

Good concept and beautiful arts!

Thanks so much for the kind words. :)
